The _blacklibrary is easy to spot in Furness (202,73) with its cylindrical fronting, domed top and rotating masthead, branded in the same vein as the website.
For the sake of Second Life ergonomics the _blacklibrary is a big, open, warehouse-type structure, with a high ceiling and plenty of airspace for flying in.
As we go inside there's a discreet black sphere suspended above. This is a scripted object created by one of Second Life's many scripters and it's purpose is to log the avatar names of people who might visit while no-one is there, a bit like a hit-counter.
The 'foyer' is guarded by Holo-Yaffle, his Floating Text script welcomes all comers and clicking on him dispenses a notecard with a more verbose welcome message.
Over on the left, on the transparent plinth is an answering machine and by pressing the red record button, it will record the next line of chat. Pressing the green play button repeats any stored messages as floating text. It serves as a sort of guestbook and you can use it to leave public comments about the place.
The big billboard on the right advertises the latest addition to the _blacklibrary (and the website) and the nine smaller posters, the nine previous articles. This little arrangement represents the 'frontpage' and reflects the ten articles on the frontpage here.
In the corner is a public Infonet terminal, allowing visitors to access Second Life's 'homemade internet', a resource distribution network created and maintained by Squagmire Stravinsky.
To your right is the _blackarts section, the library's gallery. In there are in-game representations of the work you can find in the _blackarts section of the website.
Upstairs on the mezzanine are the written archives, categorised into _blackbox and _blackbook sections, non-fiction and fiction respectively. Clicking these books will open a browser and load the article in question.
At the end of the mezzanine a pair of double-doors leads into the theatre. Here experiments in Second Life 'live events' will be conducted.
The website's forum, the _blackbored, is represented by a bar area downstairs in the basement. Here experiments in stupid jokes will be conducted.
