Out in the depths of Angel infested zerozero, if you manage to avoid gate campers and local wars, you may run into the odd Machariel or three. They’re gorgeous ships, the hotrods of the stars; long, sleek, black fangs hanging in space. If you don’t know what you’re doing up against zerozero pirates, they’ll kill you quick. But then if you’re in zerozero and you don’t know what you’re doing, you deserve to die.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Azeroth recently. It’s utterly, utterly different from EVE, devoid of the hopelessness that can sometimes engulf you as a new player. There’s always someone there to guide you on your path, always someone randomly buffing you as they pass, always something obvious to do and see and be part of. WoW is the light at the end of EVE’s tunnel, a primary-coloured world where you don’t have to obsessively check your surroundings to see which neutral ship is about to open fire.

Eve Diary 2: Learning Curves - By Jamie McEwan

I was on holiday for a week, and it hurt. I’ve spent time away from my PC before, and going back to my Mum’s house means I can always pull the ol’ SNES out from underneath the bed, but it was different this time. No amount of Mario Kart or Streetfighter II could hide the fact that I was really missing EVE. Oh God, I think I may have a problem.
